Paul A. Caimi, JD, LCDC

As of 2020, Paul has been clean and sober for 32 years. He has also been an Associate Director with the Ohio Lawyers Assistance Program for 20 years, a lawyer for 33 years, and a licensed chemical dependency counselor for 20 years. He graduated from Harvard with a degree in psychology and social relations in 1982, where he was a research assistant for and published with B.F. Skinner. Paul created, designed, and authored one of the first addiction recovery apps, SoberTool. SoberTool has had over 200,000 downloads, approximately 5000 daily users, and over 4 million page views per year. It has been annually top rated by Healthline.com and other publications, and also top listed by both the Google PlayStore and Apple AppStore. Paul has also facilitated hundreds of interventions and made hundreds of speeches on substance abuse.
Currently Paul’s law practice is limited, but in the past, he has represented many small businesses, individuals, and served as a Trustee of numerous estates. In the 1980’s, Paul was a professional actor, having starred in a few low budget movies and acted with legendary movie star, Cliff Robertson. He wrote a screenplay which was produced and distributed to a major studio which became a cult classic with 5 sequels. For recreation, Paul loves dogs and is an American Kennel Club Master Agility Dog Handler. Paul has been married for 35 years to a wonderful, patient, understanding wife, and has parented two independent sons, age 30 and 25 years, one a software developer and the other a successful professional animator. Paul spends most of his free time caring for his 88 year old parents and volunteering at the New Directions Adolescent Treatment Center where he has been a volunteer for 31 years. Paul has undergone repeated cervical spine surgeries, and has a special interest in assisting clients who deal with pain management. AA has been instrumental to Paul’s sobriety, and he believes in an individualistic treatment plan for each recovering individual. Paul’s mission: “to help anyone find his or her recovery path.”
